What does the society do?

The Brinkworth Heritage Society was originally formed in 1997 to raise funds to repair the church roof but its scope was widened three years later to organise events and raise money for other deserving village projects. A copy of our constitution can be downloaded here: Constitution 2014.pdf

What have we done in the past?

Events have been organised to entertain and celebrate occasions such as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and Millennium Celebrations. For several years the society organised and ran the Brinkworth Country Show and other events have included; dances, a jazz evening, quizzes, bring and buy sales, talks, race nights and a murder mystery. The second Brinkworth 10k Bash, a multi-terrain running event, took place this year.

What is planned in the future?

Every year the society runs bars at, the Brinkworth Village Fayre, Church Fete and Wiltshire Rural Arts events in the Village Hall. The society will be organising the usual Bonfire and Fireworks Night on November 5th at the recreation field, starting at 6.30 pm and there will be Carols around the Christmas Tree on 12th December in St Michael and All Angels church.

What are we doing now?

Presently the Society is renewing the kitchen and storage facilities at Brinkworth Recreation Field having raised funds and obtained grants for this project which should be finished by Christmas. Next year it is hoped to provide toilets at the Recreation Field.

Who has benefitted?

Clearly, those who have been entertained at the various events, but to date over £80,000 raised by the society has been used for, or donated to, various charitable and good causes in the village and local area, including:-
